The process of link building is an ongoing one. The more quality backlinks you have to your website, the better you’ll be able to earn top search engine positioning, or keep it if you already have it. When you’re thinking about ways to generate links to your website, it’s important to remember that the major search engine algorithms view unpaid links as being much more beneficial than those that you can by.

Link Building and SEO

Since search engines are primarily concerned with evaluating the relevance of web sites, it makes sense that they assign more weight to unpaid links than to paid ones. After all, anyone can buy backlinks. Unpaid links tell a very different story.

When there are unpaid links pointing at your site, however, that tell search engines one of two things:

1. Another web site owner thinks highly enough of your web site to include a link to it on his or
her site.

2. You’re an active member of the online social networking community, actively engaged in building an online presence for you and your company in the right places.

Link Building and Forum PostingYou only have so much control over whether or not other people will link to your site from theirs. What you can control, however, is just how active you are when it comes to engaging in quality link building activities on your own. That’s where forum posting comes into the picture. You can create links back to your website by participating in forums that allow links in the signature line.

Start out by choosing a few forums that are relevant to your topic of your site, and start posting. Every time you do, you’ll create a new link to your website. This type of link building doesn’t cost anything but a little time. The benefits you’ll enjoy in terms of search engine optimization make it well worth the effort.
