Understanding Effective Blog Management
Want to use blogging as a promotional tool for your business? If you want blogging to do more than just give you a place to vent on the Internet, it’s important that you adopt effective blog management strategies before you every make your first post.
Follow these tips for effective blog management, and you’ll be on your way to creating a powerful blog that can have a significant impact on your company’s bottom line.
1. Avoid Free Blog Sites — If you want your blog to pack a punch, don’t rely on one of the free blog hosting websites. You don’t want your blog’s name to immediately be associated with a free blog hosting site. It just doesn’t send the right image, and it isn’t going to be as effective for SEO or attracting traffic. The free blog hosting sites are better left for personal online journal blogs.
2. Get your own domain name – Some people simply add an index page to their company’s website for their blog. While this is better than using a free blog hosting site, it’s not as effective as getting a separate domain name for your blog. When your blog is on a different domain from your primary site, the links you create between the two sites serve as backlinks, boosting SEO for both sites.
3. Update Content Regularly — A blog that just “sits there” isn’t being effectively managed. One of the most basic blog management principles is the importance of frequent content updates. Plan to update your blog with unique content between three and seven days per week if you want it to pack a punch.
